Product Specification :
PBS provides
ready-to-run add-on solutions for SAP® data archiving. The PBS
Database Analyzer Plus assists you with the planning, conception and
realization of your archiving project.
Function
: In
the run-up to your archiving project PBS Database Analyzer Plus
enables you to analyze the capacity commitment of your archiving
objects in the database and to determine the cur-rent storage space.
You are also able to define the document distribution of the
selected SAP modules and to check the archivability of selected SD,
FI and MM documents.
The Database Analyzer
PLUS answers the following questions:
• How much is my database
increasing?
• For which archiving objects
does archiving make sense?
• Which module requires most of
the disk space?
• Which PBS archive add on do I
need?
• How much disk space is
occupied by a certain module, e.g. FI?
• How big is the monthly
document volume in the financial accounting?
• How big is an average
purchasing document?
• Which table can be archived with
which archiving object?
Capacity Commitment :
Using the PBS Database Analyzer
Plus you can identify the storage requirement of the ar-chiving
objects. With periodically analysis you can determine the effects on
the data volume of your database prior to or after the data
archiving.
At present more
than three hundred (value depends on each release) archiving objects
are evaluated to define the capacity commitment. The results are
stored for later evaluation in a data base table according to
different criteria. The allocation of one table to several archiving
objects is also considered. Herewith the utility completely adds the
determined capacity to one archiving object or splits it according
to a defined system. Sometimes it can be of inter-est to determine
the increase of a table independent of the archiving object. In this
case you have the opportunity to analyze one single table.
Therefore, a single table analysis can be carried out, whereby
archiving objects can be assigned by mouse click.
Document Distribution :
The analysis of document
distribution provides you detailed information on the distribution
of the required disk space. You are also informed on the
chronological distribution of the en-tered documents. The general
grouping criteria are client and period. Grouping criteria like
company code and document type exist in the areas of financial
accounting and purchasing. Application attributes (invoice, delivery
note, order) are available criteria in the sales area. You have the
opportunity to define the selection and grouping criteria.
The evaluation
of the document distribution helps you with the definition of an
archiving con-cept in coordination with the involved departments. It
also facilitates the definition of impor-tant customizing
parameters, e.g. residence time.
Archivability Check :
The PBS Database Analyzer PLUS
determines the archive ability of selected archiving ob-jects. This
is important when documents belonging to the period of the archiving
run are not archived. You have the possibility to call the
archiveability check within the document distri-bution analysis and
to check the selected periods. The PBS Database Analyzer PLUS
pro-vides detailed information about the reasons of excluding the
document from archiving.
